PPCC Communication

January 2022

Hi all….Welcome to the January 2022 edition of the PPCC Communication.

December 2021:

December had seen some great weather for riding with good numbers out during the week and Saturdays.  The course change seems to be a ‘hit’ with all with one group heading off at 9:00am to complete the 2 circuits.  A new ‘rider’ contacted the PPCC for details of the Saturday ride.  He appears to be an accomplished rider who will be located in Port Pirie for the 2022 school year where he will begin his teaching career at the John Pirie High School.  Welcome Michael and we hope to see you as part of our riding group in 2022.

Peter and Vicky-Ann Smale have settled back into Pirie after relocating back to Pirie.  Great to see Peter back on the bike.

Unfortunately the ‘pandemic’ continues with yet another variant spreading throughout the country after borders being opened.  You would all be aware that there are still some restrictions in place which do have an impact on our group.  Immunisation, hygiene and face masks are still the key to keeping yourself, family and friends safe.  We now have limits on numbers at private residences (10 per household) and the 1.5m social distancing rules still apply.  We have heard many times at within our group ”it’s not here”, well now it is and what we all do individually will help.

REMEMBER….if you are feeling unwell or have minor cold like symptoms, stay home, get a rapid antigen test done and follow the isolation instructions to be sure you do not have the virus before coming in contact with the group.

AGM:

We had our AGM on Saturday 4th December with good numbers attending to have their say in the future direction of our club.  All ‘office positions’ were declared vacant with elected ‘returning officer’ Hugh Paterson conducting the election of all office positions.

PPCC Members Christmas Lunch:

The PPCC ‘members’ Christmas lunch was held on Sunday 19h December with 19 attending.  A great relaxing afternoon that I am sure was enjoyed by all.

Membership Fees:

PPCC Membership fees are now due - Single $20, Pensioner $10 payable to the treasurer.

PPCC New Cycling Kit:

As per my previous emails and newsletters over the last 5 or 6 months on the proposed new PPCC riding kit, I am pleased to advise that the new cycling kit was ‘signed off’ on at the AGM.  After seeing the sample kit from the manufacturer, (Black Chrome) much discussion on who will purchase the kits and it was eventually agreed that the PPCC will pay for one only kit (top and knicks) per financial riding member.  More garments if required, can be purchased from BlackChrome at your cost.

BlackChrome has this week sent me a package containing ‘sizing samples’ of jerseys and knicks so we can be fitted with the correct size garments.  At my last visit to BlackChrome a couple of days prior to Christmas, they discussed hygiene protocols for trying on the sizing samples which were basically no ‘bare’ contact to the body and preferably showered before trying on.

I have created a spread sheet of current ‘riding’ members to record your sizes so we can place an order.  So you can expect a phone call from me over the next week or so to organise a time to bring the samples to your home for you to try on so I can record the sizing for each individual.

BikeSA:

Please check your BikeSA memberships as it’s about this time of the year you may find it is up for renewal.  Renewal can be completed on the BikeSA website, by phone or ‘snail mail’.  As per previous years, forward your receipt to our Treasurer for reimbursement of the fees.

As a Bike SA member you can participate in their organised rides.

Contact Bike SA or check their web site. (08 8168 9999) (office@bikesa.asn.au)
